Bronx HS Teachers: Is your principal competent?

The Learning Environment Surveys create another source of questionable data. However, many teachers do respond to direct questions about their principals. What follows are the results from almost every Bronx high school.

Question: “The Principal is an effective manager who makes the school run smoothly”
Answers: “Strongly Agree” (10 pts), “Agree” (6.7 pts) “Disagree” (3.3 pts) or “Strongly Disagree” (0 pts).
Score: based on average response.
Percent: based on percent of answers “to a great extent” or “to some extent.”

The best: Score of 9 or higher, or 95% or higher, or both:

Can you do the other boroughs? Thanks!

We’re working on it. If we have to download each pdf, and look up and record each number, and there’s 150 high schools in Brooklyn… you get the idea. This is important, but not urgent, and will get done in time.

I wonder if the 18% of the staff at DWC who said no to this question have ever taught anywhere else or worked or anyone else other than Gerry. The grass might not be greener as they soon might be forece to find out. Perhaps they can join the 59% of the staff of Fordam HS of the Arts who seem to enjoy the leadership style of Iris Blige or not. It is what it is Jon.

Eulynis Matthias Fridie and John Tornifolio are definitely two of the worst Principals/administrators ever and should be promptly fired along with their mentor/superintendent who gave them their positions, Elena Papaliberios. They run schools into the ground (turning them into low F schools, rob children of their right to an education, and attempt to ruin the careers of new and seasoned teachers in order to shift and responsibility from themselves. They are glaring examples of what is wrong with the current NYC education paradigm where administrators and their supervisors are taught and encouraged to treat teachers as enemy combatants – to blame them for everything and offer no tangible support – obviously hurting the students in the process. Mayor Bloomberg – why are these Principals and their ilk still employed with six figure salaries when they are so obviously failing you, their teachers, and their students?
