Funding

The current teacher funding formula is another Klein leftover. It encourages principals to avoid hiring experienced educators. It punishes schools that hire them. This hurts principals, teachers, schools, kids. Shouldn’t Mulgrew and Fariña be ending Fair Student Funding?

My understanding is that before Klein teachers’ salaries were billed directly to the city, while now schools must pay from their own budgets, meaning that a veteran teacher costs double what a new one costs. Is that right? Yes, de Blasio hasn’t moved fast enough or gone far enough in reversing the Bloomberg Reign of Error

It is called systemic age discrimination, and it is breaking the law but the DOE of NYC and our corrupt UFT are protecting each other.
